AvyTech Goodies
November 4, 2008 by Avy.
I’m sick. Xav has an ear infection, but passed his cold onto me. Good for him, bah for me. He’s in daycare now and I’m back at work for the first time since last Thursday.
I’m happy though.
My Egyptian perfume bottles came while I was out. They’re so pretty. They’re little hand-blown glass bottles and are hand-painted. I can’t wait to make the perfumes tonight. I got my shipment of essential oils on Saturday so that’s taken care of. I’m still waiting for all my soapmaking stuff to come in.
The online store is set up and I’ll be putting the perfumes up for sale either tonight or tomorrow night. I will reserve Saturdays/Sundays for soap and candle-making. It’s going to be time consuming so I’ll do the simple molds on Saturdays and the intricate ones on Sundays. That way Erik can hand Xav if he gets fussy while I’m in my artsy flow.
I’m crafty. Yay.

What it Do?!
October 21, 2008 by Avy.
I hate that little piece of slang yet I love to giggle at it. ah well.
I went back to work yesterday. I miss my son, but it’s all good. We’ll live.
now that I’m sitting on my arse most of the day, I’m back on Calorie Count at least until the next Weight Watchers session starts at work. It’s too easy to stuff my face all day in this place and I’m tryin to get MILFtastic. A girl can dream. I’m already below my pre-preg weight (not by a whole lot though) so all should be well.
I’ve also started wearing make-up regularly again. Yay! It’s a good feeling. Once finances allow, I’ll buy a few new articles of clothing. In the meantime, I’m back in the office and selling Mark for extra cash. Buy stuff!!!

Work-at-Home Mama?
August 3, 2008 by Avy.
Yeah so I’m convinced that as much as I love my job, I need to be in the house wif teh smallest of bears like ALL the tiem. Yes, yes? Yes, yes. I’m pretty sure that’s what I need. I don’t wanna pay for daycare. I don’t wanna stick him with my mom or Erik’s. I think this is best. He pretty much needs to be right here all the time. Plus, my maternity leave won’t be much by the time he pops out. I’ve had to use so much PTO with all this high risk hospital crap. Sheesh. I’m never getting pregnant again. Next kid? eBay. And that’s IF we’re not all diapered out.
I’m just sayin. It may be time for me to say goodbye to corporate America. I wish I could be part time so I can keep the benefits. I’ll have to check that out. It’s grown-up strategy time.

Careers
July 25, 2008 by Avy.
These are some jobs I’m interested in. Honestly “Homemaker” is #1 right now, but these are totally me as well.
Elementary school teachers, except special education
Job Description: (Except special education) using classroom presentations or individual instruction to help students learn. They plan, evaluate, and assign lessons; prepare, administer, grade tests and report cards; and maintain classroom discipline.
Average Salary: $45,570
Hello! Me. Teaching kids how to do stuff. Especially Reading + Writing… I think I have more than enough patience and dedication to teach k-5. I prefer k - 3, but it’s all good. There’s just something a kid has before they turn 9 or 10 that’s really effin nifty to me.
Job Description: Use evidence they’ve collected from crime scenes and other locales in order to solve investigations.
Average Salary: $45,330
It’s not forensic pathology, but it’s still something I’m VERY interested in doing. Or at least knowing how to do. It’s crazy. Oh well. That just popped into my head.
Self-enrichment education teachers
Job Description: Are often self-employed or work part time and provide instruction in a wide variety of subjects that students take for fun or self-improvement in classroom, group and one-on-one instruction.
Average Salary: $33,440
Job Description: Must graduate from an accredited college of pharmacy and be licensed, distribute prescription drugs and counsel patients on selection, dosages, interactions and side effects of medications.
Average Salary: $94,520
Job Description: Includes technical support specialists and help-desk technicians, interpret problems, give advice and provide technical support for hardware, software and systems to customers and other users.
Average Salary: $41,470

Musical Chairs
April 22, 2008 by Avy.
I need to rant/vent.
So they’re moving 4 IT people into my department. None of us are happy because it’s permanent. Gary is the DIRECTOR of IT and has a huge office and they’re moving him down here into Alice’s little old office. Larry is the Manager of programming and he’s being moved into a cube. Then there’s 2 other people.
All this is happening in the next few days. Gary will be in here Thursday.
What’s annoying is that we had no notice and our 2 departments have nothing to do with each other. Not to mention they’re the only IT people being moved down here. The rest of IT/LAN is staying upstairs.
I’m really, REALLY not happy. Neither are my other co-workers.
I can’t wait for maternity leave.
