Leave Miss California Alone!
April 21, 2009 by Avy.
I believe gay marriage should be legalized, but that doesn’t mean she has to agree with me.
She should have been judged solely on how well she articulated her point of view. She was clear and respectfully stated her disagreement.
Why is it that in this country freedom of speech is only okay if you LIKE something? This country is TOO concerned with being PC. When you ask someone’s opinion, all you can really ask is that they state it as politely as possible.
Agree to disagree and move on.

Escuela es Problematico
March 31, 2009 by Avy.
Sooo… the morons never changed my major from CIS to Education. This is bad because I am trying to get a TEACH grant. It’s not catastrophic because I caught it in time. I just have to write a note and fax it to the registration office.
One plus is that I shuld have been majoring in Secondary Education - Art/Humanities (for English teaching), but I’ve got 24 hours decide if I want to keepthat or shoot for the Math/Science option.
Anyway… I can’t wait til may. I take JAP101 on campus (and Psych online).
I’m kinda happy I’m finally focusing on teaching. It’s the career I’ve taken almost 10 years to say yes to. I think we all know how indecisive I am and always have been.

School Ranting
March 24, 2009 by Avy.
I’m curious… How hard is it to remember to save assignments as RTFs? I mean are you people too stupid to follow the directions for doing so, or just THAT forgetful? Yeesh.
Letter from the professor:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Just a reminder that we have about a month to go in the course and assignment submissions are not universally what they should be. Please be mindful of participation in the FORUM and deadlines for submissions. Emergencies occur; I understand that, but you need to let me know if you need an extension. Please check your assignments as well to be sure that they haven’t been returned to you–meaning you need to do something to the assignment and return it to me. As often as not that something that needed doing was to save the file as RICH TEXT FORMAT so that I can open your work.
The essays you read and the questions you answer are designed to get you to read closely examples of excellent writing and to analyze what makes that writing work. The published essays serve as models for you to follow.

Stuffff
March 7, 2009 by Avy.
I can’t believe it’s been nearly two months since I’ve posted here. I’ve been twittering away when I should have been blogging.
I’ve been up to more than one would think. My soap-crafting has turned into soap-making. Right now I’m on pause because I changed NaOH distributors and FedEx is being a pest about shipping the caustic to me. The last company I ordered from used UPS. I wish this guy did. I’m not trying to make meth, people! I’m just making soap. SOAP!
My jewelry-making has slowed due to my higher rate of enthusiasm with soaping. I really enjoy making necklaces and such, but until I take up lampwork, soaping is number one.
Since I’ve been laid off, i’ve gone back to school. The joy of that is that I’ll be a teacher eventually. Right now I’m just bored. I’m taking my courses online, but only signed up for one this semester (as I was supposed t still be working). I’ll be taking two next time. The reading part is boring, but I love to write so that’s a plus. Hooray for that. I have a plan and am sticking to it. As it stands I have an A grade and I’m sure I’ll keep it.
I’m participating in a Play-by-Post roleplaying game. It has a post-apocalyptic setting with NO ZOMBIES. I like it so far. My character is good and so is her history. We use the GURPS system (which is very different from White Wolf) and I had the worst time trying to get everything just right.
What else? Nothing much I guess. I may start up with Dagorhir again this month (since it’s warming up). That’s all I’ve got for now.
Here. Have a video. (unless I embedded it incorrectly)

Money Money?
September 21, 2008 by Avy.
I’m online way too much today, but it benefits the world. I was looking up loans again (a girl’s gotta know her options) and found this site: Cash Advances. I’m thinking about looking into something like that for some extra emergency money if something pops up this week. I’m not sure when my disability will come in and I hate not getting a paycheck until basically November. That’s the downside to maternity leave (imo).
Somehow I got over to the Bad Credit Auto Loans section. I don’t have stellar credit, so I figured it was worth looking into. I don’t want a car with a lease. I need something that’ll be cheap to insure. The interest rate for a loan from CLS doesn’t seem to be that bad when you really get down to it.
There’s so much grown-up business to deal with now that I’m all mommified!
