Flickr Stats

So I activated flickrstats like last week. Now I see that people actually DO look at my photos even though I don’t get many comments. Interesting. I have no complaints.

Correction

After careful consideration, I’ve decided to stick with my original idea of buying the Canon 40D. Canon has rebates right now (May - July), so I can get the 40D with the $200 instant rebate. This makes the body $950+ tax. The XSi is $900+tax. At only $50 difference, it becomes a no-brainer.

I think the XSi’s lighter body would be way more comfortable at shows, but it’s not as tough as the 40D. Someone’s selling their 40D on CL for $850, but I prefer new electronics over used.  If I buy it body only, I’ll miss out on the sweet lens that comes with it, but I think I can manage. I’ll still have the 50mm and my 28-80. I’d be selling the XT with the Kit lens and one 2GB card.

I’m not totally convinced the noise handling is much better with the 40D over my XT, but the ability to push to ISO 3200 will be VERY helpful for show shots. My 50mm is a faster lens than what I typically use (18-55mm)  so that should be good. I can use that and buy a 10-22mm later since I want an ultra-wide anyway.

So if I sell $700 worth old camera gear, I can spend $300 to get a new body. It feels like I’d be losing a lot though. I need to be rich.

All this considered, I know I’ll never be able to get the Canon 1D Mark III since it’s so hard for me to come up with enough to get the 40D. Woe is me.

Some Show Shots

Take a peek if you like. I should be adding them to Flickr soon enough.

I don’t really love them because like a moron I had the ISO way up the entire time. The full size images have noise/grain. I’m not a fan. Simple mistakes.

I took some shots tonight, but I suppose I’ll just post them tomorrow.

NEED: Canon EOS 450D / XSi

Canon EOS 450D / Rebel XSi brief hands-on: Digital Photography Review

I know I just got my XT in October, but I’m fairly certain I need the new XSi.

I chose the XT over the XTi because the latter didn’t have enough upgrades to justify the cost. Well now there’s the XSi and woah diggity. I’m just sayin… magic! It was finally released in April, but I was too occupied with everything else to notice.

I took some nifty photos of Wizard Eye at The Fire on Friday night. That was fun times. I think the quality would have been even better if (like the XSi) the XT had auto aperture AND auto ISO once you choose the shutter speed in Tv mode.  I like a little motion blur and some of these shots have too much for my tastes. I can tell that from the camera. On PC, I’ll have to find out tonight.

She always has these wise words for The Avalicious One.

I’m back at work after a nice, busy weekend. I’m eating baby carrots and banana chips. I alternate. I’m convinced it’s time to go to the doctor. I’m trying to be healthy and my body’s actin weird.  That’s annoying.

I took Lacey’s  photos on Saturday and hung out with family. We took one together (all 4 of us). I hate setting the timer and runnin to the group. I’m always afraid I’ll break something. I need clamps to help keep my paper from unrolling.  I have to make an order for more colors, specifically Canary Yellow  and Lt. Blue. I find myself not really needing anything wider than 53″ so far. I still have the 107″ white just in case. Blah blah blah. Back to work.
