Do You Understand?!
December 26, 2007 by Avy.
I frequent photography forums to learn and grow. I answered a “please critique” post and it seems to me the guy just wanted praise, not true criticism. He had problems with everyone’s comments, not just mine.
My comments are in bold…

The first shot is too dark. You captured her laughter beautifully, but the environment is not lit well enough. If you wanted it to be dark, that’s okay (though out of place with her laughing), but you would need more contrast in the trees.
i dont want to turn your eye into trees, so more contrast is contraproductive, less dark means in this case less almosphere and photo will be flat. try it yourself, you will see… but anyway, i thank you for your suggestions
The second is nice. The right model should have turned her body out more for better symmetry if that matters to you. I really like the shot though. It’s very bright without being too washed out up top.
washed up? there’s no overburns, try historygram in photoshop.
maybe symetry is good way to go. thank you. i will keep it in mind
The third is great. Very dreamy and the landscape orientation gives it graphic/web design appeal. I can see it being the background to an ad or web page.
Good work!
