Oh Lordy
November 30, 2007 by Avy.
Laurence J. Peter - “If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.”
So I think that quote is funny. Thank you Google streamy thingy.
Work is rockin for me. The departments have split and ol nosy-arse is in Canadia til next week. My review went great! All my work is caught up and I’m not getting fired. I am sad that Lloyd left w/o saying goodbye. He was my home skillet (or so I thought). I’m not taking it too personally. He pretty much just went to lunch and didn’t come back. Plus, I doubt he’s happy about it and has more important things to think about than making goodbye rounds.
In other news: It’s almost weekend time!!!

Random Thought of the Day: Hypnosis
November 30, 2007 by Avy.
I was thinking about getting hypnotised. People get cured from things like smoking , over-eating, etc. that way. I figured it’s worth a try. Eh. You could solve a lot of problems that way. AND you can say you’ve been hypnotised before.

Pedalboard Adventure
November 29, 2007 by Avy.
So off and on this morning I’ve been peeking at things to buy over time. The first things I’m getting are a pedalboard and an overdrive for my bass. These are affordable things that will benefit me right now. I got a message from someone about my old CL ad for music stuff and it made me smile. I’m happy to be playing again. Much like teh secks, music is better with a friend than alone. I messaged Britt about when she’s able to get together aside from rehearsal. I figure bass and drums are good pairings for workin out some rhythm ideas. It should make things easier. I like being motivated.
And I haven’t forgotten about photography, either! I plan to shoot bands as I go along and I just spoke to Ali about her photo shoot. I think it’s good to hold off til January because I’m doing production stills for a music video Ariella is directing. Plus I figure that could lead into me doing photos of that group at a later time for $$$.
So I’ve got a plan or two. One thing motivates me to do another and it makes me feel good. Also, the goal of being on stage pushes the goal of losing weight. At work I’m a LOT better than I used to be (when I got off Weight Watchers), and I’m back to eating lighter. I also walk around & climb stairs more. It’s good.
Lalala the end!

My Desk
November 29, 2007 by Avy.
It’s so neat I could vomit. Seriously. Ever since I’ve had the double cube, it’s been easier to keep neat. For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been living under the assumption I’ll be fired on 11/30 because I’m reviewing on a Friday at 2pm and 2 people are being laid off that day. I suppose can relax now. I got paid and there was no severance check. I think they give everyone they fire severance.
Needless to say, I’ve already taken most of my things (photos/toys/figures) home already. I guess it’s not a bad thing. It’s just that now my cube is kinda stark. I like pictures. They make me happy and cozy. Now I feel like the machine. Bah.

Tourists for teh Secks
November 27, 2007 by Avy.
This story from Reuters makes me laugh.
Long story short: Old white women travel to Kenya for young African men to give the wine-dine-69 treatment. The local tourism board hates it. The ladies don’t see the big deal.
This is nothing new. Men have done it for ages and women are doing it more these days. Now if some poor guy wants to live like a rich man for 2 weeks and his cost is good company and probably secks, go right ahead. Both parties know what the situation is. At least Kenya’s a poor country. In the US, people do it, knowing full well they could work if they tried. Either way. No one’s being manipulated. It’s all consentual. I don’t see the problem. It’s a bit sad, but hey– he’s poor and she’s lonely. Individually they’re sad, but together they’re a well oiled machine.
In other news: I’m reading a trashy soap operaesque book called The Love Machine by Jacqueline Susann and boy is it addictive ^_^ The thing is predictable, trite… just overall bad. Yet it’s enjoyable. I don’t get it. I’m halfway through it already. It’s fun to read about high society in the 60’s though.
